As future leaders, we continually strive to build stronger ties with our communities and the individuals within them. It is through this understanding that we grow and develop broader worldviews that will shape and support our lives. We celebrate our history through traditions that honor the past while serving the future.
Our chapter tries to create an environment that nurtures positive identity by recognizing and appreciating the value of differences in each other and the world. We provide exposure to culturally diverse peoples and events, which broaden our perspective, promote awareness and teach cultural sensitivity. Some time-honored NCL, Inc., traditions, such as our annual Mother-Daughter Tea and Style Show, are cultural activities designed to teach members etiquette, graciousness, self-assuredness in social settings, good manners and respect of others. Held in November, our Mother-Daughter Tea is hosted by the 9th grade class. The 9th graders serve tea to all members while the 12th graders participate in the style show as models, runway coordinators and backstage managers. The six year Mother-Daughter experience culminates in a ceremony for the 12th graders called Senior Recognition held in January. At this event, Seniors and their mothers are celebrated for their service and commitment to NCL.
